Odd clouds

I wonder if you painted clouds like this if people would say clouds don't look like that, to round and perfect!  I've only seem clouds like this twice and both times after a huge storm that included tornados.

Fishing boat

                                                                           12X16
Spent some time in Cape cod a few months ago.  I loved the boats, marinas and just being near the water.  I envy those of you that live there!
So another attempt with the palette knife.  Lots to learn but I did enjoy it.

The Balcony

                                                                        12X16
I did this in a recent attempt to use only a palette knife.  I think it's not my friend, seems to be really hard to control.  I'm going to try to use it more because I think I need to loosen up!

On the beach

Recently I took a photo of some cute little boy on the beach in San Diego.  I haven't painted figures, yet, so thought since it's the back how hard could it be..hmmmmm, well it was hard!
They started out as teens and by the time I 'fixed' everything I could they are now tots!  hehe
It was fun to try.

Plein Air trials!

I just spent ten days in Southern Utah and it was wonderful.  Hiking, painting and spending time with the family.
I had ordered a soltek easel before I left and it didn't arrive so I had to go through the nice guys at soltek in Salt Lake to re-order and have it shipped to St George Utah.  SO the first trip out it was to late in the day and I ended up wiping the slate clean.  The second try I bought a backpack to hold ALL my supplies, packed it up and arrived in Zion canyon full of hope, carried that heavier than I thought it would be pack a few feet from the car before I remembered oh ya, didn't put any boards in! So back in the car it went.  Then to not waste the day I decided to hike Angels Landing with my daughter and my husband, intending to turn around after a short time.  Well I ended up going the whole way, very steep, very high and very scary! About 4 hours round trip. Here is a pic of my daughter at scout lookout, note the tour busses below to see how high this was!  It is beautiful in Zion.
The day I finally got to paint was in Snow Canyon.  I had everything I needed, well except paper towels!  Luckly someone had a small pk of tissues so I did get to paint!
So now I want to try to have a very organized pack with everything I need.

TROMPE FOUNTAIN IN ART NICHE

                                                                            45X65
This is another fountain on canvas.  After I installed the mural I then duplicated the tile in the surround of the niche, painted 2" tiles on the bottom.  There are three books at the left that don't show completely.  Because the surround has rounded edges it was easier to wrap the blue tiles to make them more believable.

Trompe L'oeil Fountain

36X48
I have painted many of these fountains for client's.  Sometime they are glued in an art niche or applied to the wall with wallpaper paste.    My inspiration for the carved design comes from the  beautiful and ornate stone surround of the Alamo door in San Antonio.
